What we do
There’s always something to do at Age Concern – from popping into our shop and tea room, to enjoying days in our day centre or spending time out and about with new friends.
A cuppa, a chat, a bite to eat. What can you expect when you visit Age Concern? A friendly welcome. Lots of familiar faces, a few new faces, always happy faces. The chance to have a chat and a laugh. A heartening tea or coffee, a tasty and nourishing snack. An ever expanding lunch menu with light but always delicious choices, not to mention Shirley’s famous afternoon teas with scrumptious fresh baked scones. Open daily 9.00am to 3.00pm, what could be better?
The tearoom at Age Concern is truly an oasis of caring.
Lunch and activities. Our Social & Activities Centre, The Mayfield, is host to a whole range of events. Most popular of all are our Social and Activities sessions, which include lunch, currently hosted on Tuesday and Thursday. We’ll serve you a delicious three course dinner, with a cup of tea/coffee on arrival, and give you the opportunity to reminisce with others and take part in lots of interactive activities as well as listening to occasional visiting speakers and enjoying being entertained by local schoolchildren and neighbourhood choirs.
The cost? £10.00 for Social and Activities without transport, £25.00 for Social and Activities with transport… and if you would like to join us for the splendid 3 course lunch with all the trimmings, it’s just £8.00!
‘The two days a week that we spend at the Age Concern Rene Porter Social & Activities Centre makes our lives worth living’.
Trips and days out. We also organise a range of day trips and evenings out. From boat trips, to pub lunches, to drives out to Southwell and the Vale of Belvoir, we often go where the mood takes us. And if you enjoy our days out, we also arrange a holiday once a year to places such as Llandudno, Bridlington and Eastbourne. We find time exploring is always time well spent.
Mum is now looking forward to going on holiday with you in the summer.
